World Children’s Day

World Children’s Day: Some History
First established in 1954 under the name of “Universal Children’s Day”, this event occurs every year on November 20th. Its goal? To promote and celebrate children’s welfare globally. The choice of celebrating this event on November 20th was not a random one. On that exact day in 1959, in fact, the UN General Assembly officialized the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, whereas in 1989 it announced the first Convention on the Rights of the Child.
What Can We All Do?

There are many great ways to take part in and show your support to World Children’s Day. Whether you are a parent, an educator, a medical professional, a government leader, an activist, a religious elder, or a business and media professional, you can play a crucial role in raising awareness for children’s welfare on this day (and every other day of the year). For example, you can donate to children’s charities, as well as organize fundraising events or fun challenges amongst your family, friends, and co-workers. Posting on social media and just talking about the event are other great ways to give it the visibility it deserves. This year, it will be especially important to focus on how the coronavirus pandemic has negatively affected children’s welfare worldwide. Let’s all get together on November 20th to imagine – and create – a better world for our future generations.

Street Child: An Ongoing Commitment to Children’s Education

At Inna Organic, we are committed to promoting the well-being of children living in impoverished countries, and we have been actively supporting the UK charity Street Child since 2020. Street Child fights to give every child a chance to learn and receive the education they need and deserve.  In 1996, Africa Educational Trust (AET) started working in Somalia, during the very delicate time when many international organizations were leaving the country following the failure of a UN peacekeeping mission. AET is part of Street Child and continues to be directly involved in local efforts to guarantee formal education to Somali children.

Inna Organic’s Pledge

Back in 2015, when Inna Organic was founded, we pledged to contribute 1% of our annual revenue to support childhood education. Our name says it, too: “inna”, in fact, means “child” in Taiwan’s Hokkian language. This reflects our company’s mission: to create effective, organic skincare products that are clean and gentle enough to be great for children, too. But “clean beauty”, at Inna Organic, also means being able to support important causes, such as childhood education – and that’s exactly what we have been doing (and continue to do) year after year.

A Gift Box With a Heart

To celebrate this year’s World Children’s Day, we are excited to announce that we will donate 15% of the net sales of our Frankincense holiday gift box to Street Child. Somalia is where we source our precious frankincense essential oil, so we have a particular attachment to this country.  We are proud and honored to be able to support its children in receiving the best education they can.
